Residents have decided to be active in Gawad Kalinga. It is a big step for our Fraternity to be recognized not only inside the schools and universities but also outside.

We have tried coordinating with the Gawad Kalinga in UST and fortunately the head is a nursing student. What a luck?! because i am also a nursing student. After meeting with them, we were surprised to discover that they were also having problems with the school admin regarding the recognition of GK in UST. And hopefully being active in this organization could be a big help for our fraternity regarding our recognition inside the university.

We were even invited with some of their talks and seminars. And i was shocked because me and Bro. Pel were called on the stage to share and tell something about our Fraternity’s stand regarding GK. We were so happy and honored to be appointed by the GT to be the one to share on the stage and it turned out to be a success. It was so inspiring to hear the crowd giving us a round of applause after about an hour of speech. Although, we didn’t have the guts and not even a handful of vocabulary to say something in front of the GK crowd, we still feel honored to represent the Fraternity and it is indeed a big accomplishment for both of us. We also felt so honored to hear the name of our Faternity being acknowlegded and recognized by them. They have promised us to give us updates regarding their upcoming activities and programs.

And now, the biggest event will be held this saturday FEB 25, 2006! THE GAWAD KALINGA 1MB “isang milyong bayani”. And we have committed all the residents to come and participate in the said event. We have also invited the chapters within area 3 to join and hopefully they could all come. The more, the merrier.

• 3:00PM - CONVERGE WITH ALL THE YOUTH IN UP OBLATION AREA
• 3:45PM - MARTSA NG MGA BAYANI
• 4:30PM - ENTRY TO QC CIRCLE
• 5:00PM - GK 1MB COMMITTMENT RIGHTS
• 6:30PM - KALINGA LEYTE LAUNCH AND CONCERT OF CUESHE, DICTA LICENSE, BROWNMAN REVIVAL(Percussion-Bro. Januarie Sudiang/UST Chapter Batch 1989)
  ” PEOPLE POWER OVER POVERTY CONCERT”

They have informed us that we can bring banner and wear fratshirt while joining the “Martsa ng mga Bayani”.

They have also informed us that we can name a house after our Fraternity and it will cost 60 thousand pesos only. Imagine, the house that the Tau Gamma Phi UST built.. sounds good! They have also informed us that we can even name the whole village after our Fraternity all 48 houses.

We hope this could be the big step!
