Support Bro. Diether Ocampo’s band BLOW

BlowBLOW’s music is definitely not for the faint of heart, but it’s guaranteed to keep the audience’s adrenaline flowing the whole night long. Those who have heard Blow have described their music as “”Loud and heavy.” (Uh… well, they are a 6-piece hard rock band). Blow’s gigs are graced with popular cover songs from bands like The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Calling, Creed, The Beatles, Matchbox 20, Fuel, Dishwalla, Live and Juan de la Cruz. They get particularly good crowd reactions from Stigmatize (The Calling) and Sacrifice (The Creed). Sounds effects they use include the distortion, wawa, clean sounds and overdrives. During the set, they try to insert their original songs strategically between cover songs. Blow’s originals are upbeat, insightfully composed, and reflect their individual musical influences.

Bad Burn Anger - Marben ‘94

Posted on November 21st, 2004 in Entertainment by Admin

Bad Burn“Nature Is Pissed”.So declared the black-and-white sticker on bassist Hendrick Gonzales’ four-string. And the rest of Bad Burn who performed their usual hardcore set at Mayric’s Sunday Grabe Sunday (SGS) last March seemed to live up to the stickers message.

Though the audience was sparse for SGS, vocalist Marben Romero (TAU GAMMA PHI UST Chapter Batch 1994) shoved his strong lyrics into everyone’s faces including that of Sandwich vocalist Marc Abaya, whose younger brother, Dave Abaya strummed out prickly chords on his flying V guitar. Gonzales’ bass guitar rocked with attitude, churning the intense riffs. Mixed with drummer Robert dela Cruz’s vigor on the drum set, you’ve got yourself one hardcore band minus the excessive noise. It is this particular quality about Bad Burn that puts them way over their kind, blending sharp music with strong lyrics.
