On Sept. 6, 2008, the Filipino American community will present a dynamic fundraising concert called “Alay” at Harmony Hall Regional Center in Fort Washington, Maryland.‘Alay’ is to benefit the rehabilitation programs for victims of the typhoon Frank, the cataclysmic storm that devastated many areas in Iloilo. Feed The Hungry will implement the rehabiltation projects in Iloilo. The “Alay” concert will also raise funds for a Gawad Kalinga village of new homes for the poor in Bulacan. These homes will be part of the Agos Village, which was started from funds raised by the Filipino rock group Agos.In recent months, Agos co-founders Rico Ortanez and his wife, Badette had done concerts in San Diego and Philadelphia raising enough money to complete half of the village. Sadly, Rico recently passed away from cancer before the village could be finished. In a recent meeting, community leaders agreed with songwrite/musician lawyer Rodney Garcia to help fulfill Rico’s wish to finish the village for the poor people of Bulacan.
